Whilst this is concerning, the mortality rate is relatively low, so whatever happens, this one won&#8217;t be &#8216;the big one&#8217; (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2019\/feb\/10\/plummeting-insect-numbers-threaten-collapse-of-nature\">we&#8217;re too busy killing off all other life first<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In some ways the  societal response to the virus is more interesting than the virus itself. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2020\/feb\/27\/coronavirus-could-trigger-damage-on-scale-of-2008-financial-crisis-covid-19\">Stock-market&#8217;s crashing<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2020\/feb\/23\/coronavirus-northern-italian-towns-close-schools-and-businesses\">whole towns going into quarantine<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today the NIH <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/nuccore\/MN908947.3\">released the DNA sequence of Covid-19<\/a>, so I decided to convert it into musical notes and hear what it sounds like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s the full sequence &#8211; just over 2 hours worth<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"300\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/768064663&amp;color=%23ff5500&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false&amp;show_teaser=true&amp;visual=true\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/shardcore.org\/music\/covid19.mid\">a link to the midi file<\/a> if you&#8217;d like to remix (let me know if you do!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The world is teetering on the verge of a pandemic.
