New year, new painting, this time of my good friend Chris. In keeping with a new year of aesthetic experimentation, I’ve been playing around with timelapse photography to document the painting process. Not the most fantastic quality, but interesting none-the-less. YouTube seems to have chewed it up a bit in the middle, but you get the idea. Next time I’ll use a better camera, and try and make sure I capture the whole process. In the meantime, take a look at this:
It’s me! Don’t I look great! I particularly like the exaggerated frown mark on the forehead – the whole face is angular, except where it’s a bit flabby. I think the lips are slightly lost – could be redder, and the hair is a little flat, but the skin texture is great, and I think the cap’s been rendered pretty successfully.

Glad you like it. Unfortunately the colours get a little muted when photographed – you’re a little ruddier of lip in the real thing. All the more reason for you to get your arse back down here for a visit, so you can see for yourself…
